excellent facilities for developing children's reading habits, training of
school/teacher-librarians and establishing standards for the provision of
library media centres in Nigerian schools. Through the users' services and researches
conducted into school library needs, the centre has published a standard
for Nigerian school libraries and a set of syllabuses for library use
education programme for pupils/students in primary and secondary schools
and teachers' colleges.

of the role of the secretary in the Association, the designation

David's leadership, the Association has
organized 16 Annual Conferences to deliberate on issues that promote the
development of school libraries in Nigeria. The Association hasd also
participated in National Seminars on Policies
of Education and contributed to programmes on development of children's
literature and improvement of the learning environment of a Nigerian child.
The Association has also published a journal and a number of other
