David Folorunso Elaturoti was born at Esa-Odo, Obokun Local Government Area, Osun State, Nigeria on 23rd July 1944 to the family of Late Michael and Comfort Elaturoti. UNIVERSITY EDUCATION: He was admitted to read Bachelors Degree in Education of the University of Ife now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria from September 1968 and graduated from the University with B.A.(Education) Hons. Second Class Lower Division in June 1971 with Geography and Religious Studies as teaching subjects. He taught briefly at the African Church Comprehensive High School, Ikere-Ekiti between June 1971 and October 1973 when he proceeded to the Univrsity of Ibadan, Nigeria, for a Post Graduate Diploma in Librarianship. He obtained the Post Graduate Diploma Certificate in June 1974 and also attended the International Graduate Summer School, College of Librarianship, Wales, Great Britain from July to September 1974, where he earned credits in School Libraries and Media Technology. He continued studies in Librarianship to obtain the Master of Science Librarianship (M.S.L) of Western Michigan University, USA, in June, 1980 and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Library Studies of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, in February, 1989. |
PRIMARY
EDUCATION:
David attended the Apostolic Church Primary School, Esa-Odo from January 1950 to December 1956 and obtained the Primary School First Leaving Certificate. SECONDARY EDUCATION: David attend L.A. Secondary Modern School, Ijebu-Jesa from 1957 to 1959 where he obtained the Secondary Modern School Certificate. He went further to attend African Church Teacher Training College, Ikirun from January 1960 to December 1961, for the Teachers Grade III Certificate. He started his teaching career in January 1962, under the African Church Organization. After two years experience as classroom teacher at primary school level, he proceeded to attend African Church Teacher Training College, Ikere-Ekiti for the Teacher Grade II Certificate from January 1964 to December 1965. He continued his teaching career under the African Church Organization till January 1968 when he got a teaching appointment as a Geography teacher in the newly founded Esa-Oke Community Grammar School having passed the University of London General Certificate of Education (GCE) at Ordinary and Advanced Levels. All these Educational Institutions were in the Old Western Region/State of Nigeria.
