David Elaturoti has specialised in developing school and children's libraries in Nigeria, both of which require a rich collection of children's literature in the various subjects. The Abadina Media Resource Centre where he works as Director provides a model collection of children's books. The facilities of the Centre have provided resources for organising workshops for public and school librarians as well as individuals providing library services to children on: collection development, organisation and users' services as well as the development of reading culture among Nigerian children.The centre has also organised writer's workshop to develop new authors for children's literature in Nigeria.

David Elaturoti has worked as a professional librarian at the Abadina Media Resource Centre established by the University of Ibadan in 1974.To improve his skills, he attended the Graduate Summer School at the College of Librarianship, Wales, Great Britain from July to August 1974 and earned credits for courses taken in School Libaries and Media Technology. He later attended the School of Librarianship, Western Michigan University, USA for the masters Degree in Librarianship from 1979 to 1980.

He has written books on school librarianship to guide practice and also provide needed textbooks for teaching school librarianship in library schools and other training programmes.

David has distinguished himself as a school librarian of international recognition and through library practice, teaching and publishing. He has contributed immensely to the training of school library personnel in Nigeria and globally too. The Abadina Media Resource Centre has provided David the unique opportunity to demonstrate his skills as a school librarian and make maximum contribution to the growth of the profession.
